Computer rendering of design
Folded Wood VI was the first piece
in the Folded Wood series for which I used a computer
model to help in the construction of the sculpture. I designed
the sculpture using wax-impregnated cloth, then measured the
cloth model and used those measurements to create the computer
model in Rhino (a CAD program). By working with the computer
model, I was able to cut each strip of wood to shape before
gluing them together. This rendering shows the wire frame
with a shaded surface.
