The concept for Executron came as I was working with elementary school kids and observing the extent to which they are influenced by the media.  Increasingly, corporations market their products to (or through) children, who have a very limited ability to question and analyze the statements and images with which they are bombarded.   Most conspicuously, advertisers tell kids which toys and foods they should desire, but they also manipulate kids to manipulate their parents to buy certain products or shop at certain stores.  At a more subtle yet profound level, the constant stream of advertisements and cultural messages that come through television, movies, music, and the internet shapes the minds of children to believe: they are inadequate, their possessions are inadequate, and buying things is the pathway to happiness.
