A large Black Locust tree fell in my back yard.  Rather than chop it up for firewood or send it off to the landfill, I decided to follow the advice: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”.  I began working my way down the trunk, cutting off sections and turning them into sculptures.  This is the first in the series.  The names of each piece in the series will reflect their positions in the tree.  In this first piece, as with many of my other sculptures in recent years, I was experimenting with the feeling created by closely-spaced masses.
